Millions died in the final battles of the Jaredites, but the
thing that struck me was that even when they were whittled down to just
twenty-two on one side and twenty seven on the other, that they just kept
fighting. The devil had full power of
their souls. Hard hearts led to their
complete destruction. Then it was just
two warriors: Shiz and Coriantumr. Shiz
faints from loss of blood; Coriantumr rests briefly, then cuts off the head of
Shiz. Without his head, “Shiz raised up
on his hands and fell; and after that he had struggled for breath, he died.”
The famous headless push-up of Shiz! He
didn’t stop fighting for evil even when he was headless! Satan, likewise, even without a body,
continues the battle that he fought for in the pre-mortal life. He wants to take away our agency. He wants us to submit to our carnal selves,
the natural man or natural woman within us.
He is miserable and wants us to be miserable too. And he is relentless, tireless, and
brutal. We must enlist on the side of
the Master, Jesus Christ. He alone can
save us, protect us, and see us through this life.
